Operations Research Analyst

In the role of Operations Research Analyst you will use your expertise to formulate, develop and deliver cutting-edge OR models that provide real value to business. The projects will challenge you and give you time to think and create – generating innovative solutions. You will work with smart and dedicated people with an interest in OR, Data Science, Analytics and Applied maths, learning from each other and contributing in equal measure. This position is a heavy modelling role, and your qualifications will reflect this.



  • Supervise and/or perform the function of constructing mathematical models as a means of predicting the effects of changes in system variables and associated constraints on the system under study.

  • Apply mathematical techniques to operational problems.

  • Provide management with factual quantitative reports on the relative merits of all reasonable courses of action.

  • Employ or direct the use of analytical or numerical procedures including the application of various branches of mathematics, such as calculus or matrix algebra, methods involving success of trials and techniques of random sampling for deriving optimum solution of models.

  • Direct or perform the function of testing model adequacy by comparing predictive results with actual results.

  • Designs solution controls to detect significant changes in system relationships and in ranges of variables.

  • Use established operations research techniques, such as inventory models, linear and dynamic programming, queuing theory, replacement and renewal theory and game theory in solution of operational problems.

  • Prepare regular reports.



  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering

  • Experience in operations research topics such as mixed-integer programming, discrete optimization, network flows, large-scale optimization, constraint programming and/or heuristics

  • At least 3 years’ professional experience in researching, planning and organizing analytical studies; supporting development of and identifying causes related to performance; developing recommendations for improvements based on studies conducted; handling projects and studies requiring causal and or risk analysis of issues; and preparing analytical studies to brief management in support of sound organizational decision making;

  • Proven experience with utilizing current state-of-the-art statistical and analytical software applications;

  • Ability to complete problem analysis, develop optimization requirements, design solutions, implement algorithms, perform testing, provide documentation and work on projects within a team

  • Proficient in analyzing large amounts of data

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Must work effectively with clients and consultant teams, provide technical guidance to business and support groups

  • Software development experience

  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, R

  • Familiarity with algorithmic complexity and data structures

  • Experience with commonly used parameters for guiding solver behavior.

  • Exposure to relational databases
